LOWELL, Mass. – Sophomore attacker
Taylor Sokol (Hopkinton, Mass.) notched her first career hat trick, as the UMass Lowell women's lacrosse team (0-3) dropped a 10-8 decision to Army West Points (3-1) on Sunday afternoon.
The Black Knights opened up the scoring less than four minutes into the game to snag the, 1-0, lead as Rachel Treweeke picked up her first of three goals in the outing. The River Hawks later knotted the score, 1-1, with 18:55 left to play, after Sokol notched her first goal of the season.
Army soon increased their lead, 3-1, after netting back-to-back goals within 45 seconds. After remaining scoreless for right minutes, Sokol tallied her second goal of the contest to cut the deficit to one.
With 7:30 remaining, the River Hawks and the Black Knights posted two goals apiece, as Army West Point carried a slight, 5-4, lead into halftime. UMass Lowell found goals from freshman midfielder

Noelle Lambert (Londonderry, N.H.), to round out the first half scoring.
Entering the second half, the momentum began to swing in favor of the visitors. Army quickly went on a 4-1 run to take their biggest lead of the game, 8-5, with 22:30 to play. Freshman attacker Jade Dudley (Duxbury, Mass.) blasted a shot past goalkeeper Kayla Rowley, breaking up the visitors scoring, and grabbing her first career tally.

Kelly Moran (Newfields, N.H.) added a goal apiece within 10 seconds of each other to pull the squad within two. Sokol closed out the scoring for both team, after netting her third goal to complete the hat trick.
UMass Lowell finished the game outscoring its opponents 3-2 in the last 17 minutes, but ultimately fell short as the Black Knights took home the 10-8 victory.

Courtney Barrett (South Burlington, Vt.) picked up eight saves in the outing, including a team-high six groundballs.
Sunday's contest marked the first ever meeting between the River Hawks and the Black Knights, as Army holds a slight 1-0 advantage in the all-time series. UMass Lowell is back in action March 3, when the squad hosts Siena for a 3 p.m. tilt.
