LOWELL, Mass. -- The UMass Lowell Volleyball team fell in straight sets to UMBC in America East play on Sunday afternoon at Costello Athletic Center. The set scores were 25-9, 25-22 and 25-22.
With the loss, the River Hawks drop to 5-6 overall and 0-6 in America East contests. The Retrievers improved to 13-5 overall and 4-2 in America East matches with the victory.

Katherine Claybaugh (Danville, Calif.), senior middle blocker
Lauren Bennett (Wilmington, Mass.), sophomore outside hitter
Haley Shimon (Des Moines, Iowa) and freshman
Madi Bell (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) each tallied four kills to pace the River Hawks on offense. Claybaugh also added seven digs on defense.
Junior outside hitter
Masha Yelsukova (St. Petersburg, Russia) notched three kills and a team-high .375 hitting percentage in the losing effort. Sophomore libero
Lindsey Visvardis (Homer Glen, Ill.) amassed a team-high 13 digs in another strong defensive performance, while sophomore middle blocker
Lade Adeniyi (Springfield, Ill.) registered a team-high six blocks.
The River Hawks return to action on Saturday, October 22nd at Hartford. Match time is 7 p.m. from West Hartford, Conn.
