LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell field hockey team is set for a pair of home games this weekend. The squad will first welcome No. 17 UAlbany to Wicked Blue on Friday, October 14 for a 4 p.m. tilt before facing off against Lehigh in a non-conference Senior Day matchup on Sunday, October 16 at 1 p.m.

Special Recognition
Sunday's game will be special for the River Hawks, as the team will celebrate both Senior Day and Alumni Day. Prior to the game against Lehigh, the squad's four seniors will be recognized in a special ceremony. Additionally, there will be a 10th anniversary celebration for the 2006 Northeast-10 Championship team at halftime. At the conclusion of the contest, alums in attendance will take part in a special alumni game. Â Â

Looking at UMass Lowell
UMass Lowell has put together a three-game win streak to improve to 6-6 overall record in 2016, including a 2-1 mark in America East action. The squad earned two of those victories against conference opponents last week, beginning with a 2-1 victory at home against New Hampshire that was followed by a 3-2 win on the road at Vermont. Eva Berkhout (Amersfoort, Utrecht, Netherlands) boasts a 4-0 record on the year, compiling 37 saves, a .771 save percentage and a 1.89 goals against average. Junior keeper
Kelsey Federico (Windham, N.H.), who has started eight of the nine games she has appeared in, totals 46 saves with a .639 save percentage.

Scouting No. 17 UAlbany
The Great Danes, who are currently 9-4 overall and 3-0 in America East games, are currently ranked 17th in the nation. Most recently, UAlbany defeated Vermont, 6-1, on Oct. 7 and Lafayette, 4-0, on Oct. 9. Paula Heuser is first on the team with 14 goals and 35 points. Kelsey Briddell has helped lead the offense with a team-high eight assists and 12 total points. Maxi Primus has started all 12 games in the cage for the Great Danes with 38 saves, a .731 save percentage and a 1.30 goals against average.

Scouting Lehigh
The Mountain Hawks currently sit at 5-8 in 2016 season, after picking up two shutout wins last weekend. The first earned a 6-0 decision against Colgate on Oct. 8, followed by a 5-0 win against Towson on Oct. 9. The squad is set to visit Boston University on Oct. 15 before making the trek to Lowell the next day. Through 13 games, Teresa Carotenuto has tallied a team-best six goals for 14 total points. Marissa Glatt chips in with five goals and three assists for 13 points. Paige Innarella and Julia Ward have split time in the cage this season with 31 and 40 saves, respectively.

Series History
UMass Lowell will look for its first win against UAlbany on Friday, as the Great Danes own an 8-0 lead in the all-time series that began in 1995. The teams met twice last season with UAlbany taking a 3-1 decision on Oct. 16, 2015, as well as a 9-3 win in the season finale on November 1, 2015. Sunday's contest marks the first ever meeting the River Hawks and Lehigh in the sport of field hockey.

This season, the River Hawks are tied for second in the AE East Division standings. As a team, UMass Lowell sits fourth in the rankings with a 3.09 scoring average and 38 goals scored. The River Hawks' offensive output has been a real team effort this year, with 28 assists on 38 goals so far in 2016. That means 73.7 percent of the squad's goals have been assisted this season.

Making History
The River Hawks continue to set new Division I program records in 2016. In their 9-2 win against Saint Louis on Sept. 18, the team recorded its most goals in a game and the largest margin of victory since a 2012 contest against Franklin Pierce (9-1). More recently, the squad picked up its first win ever against America East opponent New Hampshire, in addition to notching their most league victories (2) since joining the conference back in 2013.
