LOWELL, Mass. - The UMass Lowell men's golf team is getting ready to tee up for their spring season as they release the second half of their 2015-16 schedule.
Â
The River Hawks are set to play in five tournaments this spring. They will travel to Florida in their only tournament in March, followed by trips to Pennsylvania and Connecticut, as well as back-to-back trips to Rhode Island.
Â
"We are very excited about our spring schedule as we will represent UMass Lowell in Florida in March and at tournaments hosted by Lafayette, Bentley, Rhode Island and Connecticut in April," said first-year head coach Ken Hughes. "These events present us with playing against the best competition in the northeast as we work to accomplish our goal of establishing ourselves as a top-tier Division I program."
Â
The first tournament of the spring season will be the Patriot Spring Invitational, which takes place March 14-15. UMass Lowell will be playing at the historic PGA National in West Palms Beach, Fla.
Â
After a three-week break, the River Hawks will continue their season at Silver Creek Country Club as Lafayette College hosts their Invitational in Bethlehem, Pa. It will take place April 2-4.
Â
UMass Lowell will spend the next two tournaments down in Rhode Island. On April 13, they'll compete in the Bentley Invitational at the Newport National in Newport, R.I., followed by the Rhode Island Invitational on April 17-19 at Quidnessett Country Club in North Kingston, R.I.
Â
The River Hawks will wrap up their spring season on April 22-24 at the Til Duty is Done Collegiate Invitational at the Mohegan Sun Golf Course in Baltic, Conn. The University of Connecticut will be the host of this tournament.
Â
The golf team looks to pick up where they left off in the fall, which included two top-five finishes as a team. The team's lowest round was a 301, shooting this score in the first round of the Binghamton Fall Golf Invitational on Oct. 4.
