Katie White, a native of Glens Falls, N.Y., was promoted to a fulltime assistant coach while Janna Anctil, a native of Wolfeboro, N.H., was also named to the UMass Lowell coaching staff, head coach Shannon Hlebichuk announced on Thursday.

White, who was a part-time assistant coach in 2012, and Anctil will join Hlebichuk in UMass Lowell's inaugural NCAA Division I season this fall. Additionally, Kerry Dudley, in her 12th year with the River Hawks, will remain on the staff as a volunteer coach working exclusively with the goalkeepers.

UMass Lowell returns 16 veterans and seven starters from the 2012 team, which captured the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament Championship for the third straight year and moved on to the NCAA Championship match for the sixth straight time.

"I am excited that Katie has accepted the full time position at UMass Lowell," said Hlebichuk, entering her 12th season. "Having been here a year, she understands the culture of UMass Lowell field hockey and how we develop our student-athletes. As a former America East Conference player, she is certainly committed to building a winning tradition as we enter into Division I and the America East."

Prior to arriving at UMass Lowell, White spent the 2010-11 season at Holy Cross where she spearheaded the Crusaders' recruiting efforts and oversaw compliance and equipment duties. She also assisted with the planning of daily practices and scouting.

Prior to that, White was an assistant coach at the University of Albany (2007-2010) and Colgate University (2006-07), and helped bolster each program's recruiting while assisting in all aspect of coaching.

She has also spent several years as an assistant with the United States Field Hockey Association (USFHA) Futures Program.

White had an outstanding playing career at New Hampshire where she received numerous honors over four seasons. A two-time NFHCA Regional All-American and America East Conference First Team player, she finished her career ranked third in program history in total goals (21) and fourth in career points (44).

White enjoyed her best season as a senior, when she led America East in goals (13) and points (29). She was selected to USFHA High Performance Training Team for the New England Region in 2008, 2009 and 2010.

White graduated from New Hampshire with a B.A. in Psychology in 2006.

Anctil comes to UMass Lowell following two years as an assistant coach at Stonehill College where she helped lead the Skyhawks to the NE-10 Tournament both years. She played a role in all operations of both the field hockey and women's lacrosse teams, including recruiting, practices, travel and coordinating fundraising efforts for each team.

"We are thrilled to have someone with Janna's background join our staff," said Hlebichuk. "Janna is a high-energy individual who brings plenty of enthusiasm which will be instrumental in keeping our players motivated throughout the season. Her experiences as an accomplished Division I player will be a huge asset to us in our transition."

Anctil enjoyed a standout career at Boston College where she earned first team NFHCA All-Region honors as a junior

and senior as well as a place on the NFHCA's Division I National Academic squad both years. Anctil was named to the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) All-Tournament Team her senior year and was honored as the ACC Player of the Week for her efforts. Additionally, she was named to the ACC All-Academic Squad twice and was recipient of the Athletic Director's Award for Academic Achievement at BC.

Anctil began honing her coaching skills as head coach of the U-12 and U-16 teams with Northeast Elite Indoor Field Hockey club in North Andover, Mass. She has also worked several area camps at Boston College, Deerfield Academy and in her hometown of Wolfeboro, N.H.

Anctil earned her bachelor's degree in education and human development in 2011 and achieved her master's degree in education in athletic administration in 2012.

A 1998 graduate, Dudley returns to UMass Lowell for her 11th season and will continue to hone the skills of the River Hawk goalkeepers.

During her tenure, Dudley has trained and developed several outstanding goalkeepers, including two-time All-American and 2010 UMass Lowell Athletic Hall of Fame inductee Patrice Mendoza (2000-03); 2004 Northeast-10 Conference Co-Goalkeeper of the Year Nicole Staiti; and 2010 All-American/NE-10 Goalkeeper of the Year Melanie Hopkins.
Last year, Dudley was an integral part of UMass Lowell's 12 shutouts and 0.90 goals against average, which ranked No. 1 and 2 among NCAA Division II schools.

"We're thrilled to welcome Kerry back for the 2013 season," Hlebichuk noted. "This is a program that prides itself on defense. Those figures are indicative of Kerry's influence on our goalkeepers."
Kerry Dudley

Dudley was a four-year goalkeeper at UMass Lowell from 1993-96, and also served as a student assistant coach in 1997. Previously, she coached at Haverhill and Chelmsford H.S.

Dudley earned her master's degree in education at Salem State College in May '06, and is a physical education teacher at the Marsh Grammar School in Methuen, Mass.

She lives in Haverhill, Mass.

Following a scrimmage game at Holy Cross Aug. 19 and a home scrimmage against Colgate on Aug. 25, UMass Lowell opens the season at home on Monday, Sept. 2 against Northwestern University (2:00).
