Rowing: UMass Lowell Open Tryouts Scheduled Sept. 6-10th

The UMass Lowell rowing team will conduct its open tryout for the 2012-13 seasons beginning Thursday, Sept. 6, 7, 9 and 10 at the UMass Lowell Bellegarde Boathouse on Pawtucket Blvd.
Interested rowers are required to complete the student-athlete tryout form, accessible at www.goriverhawks.com (navigate to Athletic Department, NCAA Compliance, Prospective Athletes, Tryout Proof of Insurance Form); to have undergone a physical in the last six months; and to present a valid insurance card.
An informational session is scheduled for Wednesday (7:00) at the Campus Recreation Center. The UMass Lowell rowing program welcomes beginners and novices.
UMass Lowell is fresh off a stellar year which saw the River Hawk eights advance to the Grand Final of the Dad Vail Regatta on May 12, in only its second season back as an NCAA Division II program. The River Hawks capped the year ranked No. 3 in the final Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Division II East Region Eights Poll.
UMass Lowell returns five members of the Varsity Eight program as well as 10 rowers who saw significant action in the Novice Four and Novice Eight.
UMass Lowell opens the 2012 season Sunday, Sept. 30 when it co-hosts the Textile River Regatta with the Merrimack River Rowing Association.
