After early morning rain, the sky cleared up, and the sun came out as Olympic runner Ruben Sanca crossed the finish line for his second career victory at the annual John Carson Road Race in Chelmsford Center.
Sanca was the first men's finisher, and the overall winner, with a time of 9:10 in the two-mile run.
"I thought it was a little humid, so I took it really slow at first," Sanca said. "I slowly eased into it, and at the mile-and-a-half point is when I got away from the pack. I like this race because locals organize it. It is also sort of an odd distance for a race."
Sanca will be representing his country, Cape Verde, at the Olympics in London for track and field. He will compete in the 5K (3.1 miles) in London. He currently resides in Dracut.
