The UMass Lowell women's rowing program will host the Sixth Annual Alumni Rowing Day Sunday, Aug. 26 at the UMass Lowell Bellegarde Boathouse.
The event, which benefits the UMass Lowell rowing program, is slated to run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., as all rowing alumni and friends of UMass Lowell rowing are encouraged to attend.
At the Alumni Rowing Day, alumni return to the UMass Lowell boathouse to join their teammates from the past five decades in fun races on the Merrimack. There are fundraising activities scheduled throughout the morning as well as a cookout at 12:00.
A Learn-to-Row workshop is also available for families and children over 10 for a small donation.
In only its second Division II season after rowing several years at the club status, the women's program continues to make remarkable progress. UMass Lowell is fresh off a stellar season in which it qualified for the Dad Vail Grand Final, where it placed sixth.
Additionally, the River Hawk varsity eight ended the regular season ranked No. 3 in the East Region while the program received votes in the final Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA)/U.S. Rowing Coaches Poll.
UMass Lowell will open the season Sunday, Sept. 30 when it joins the Merrimack River Rowing Association to cohost the 33rd Annual Textile River Regatta, the largest single-day regatta in the country.
