The UMass Lowell women's and men's basketball teams travel to Southern Connecticut Saturday afternoon for a pair of Northeast-10 Conference games at the Moore Fieldhouse.
The UMass Lowell women (4-8 overall, 3-5 NE-10) look to snap a three-game losing skein, extended Tuesday night in a home loss to American International, 79-55. Previously, the River Hawks suffered losses to C.W. Post (93-69) and District of Columbia (71-65) in the C.W. Post Winter Classic.
UMass Lowell sits in a six-way logjam for sixth place, hence a victory could go a long way.
The River Hawks meet a Southern Connecticut squad (8-3, 6-2 NE-10) which has won six straight games and seven of its last eight. The Owls are fresh off an 81-74 win at Franklin Pierce Tuesday.
The River Hawk men (8-4, 4-4 NE-10) have won four games in their last five dates, including two in a row: a 109-81 home victory over Concordia on New Year's Eve and a 74-58 win over AIC, also at home. The sole blemish was an 86-80 loss at hoem to Franklin Pierce, which followed wins over Saint Anselm (82-79) and Merrimack (68-66).
UMass Lowell has collectively shot better than .500 from the field in three of its last four games.
The River Hawks meet a Southern Connecticut side (6-6, 4-4 NE-10) which has dropped two straight games and three of its last four, the latest a 92-70 loss at Franklin Pierce.
UMass Lowell visits Adelphi Tuesday night (5:30/7:30) before returning home Saturday to host Pace University (2:00/4:00).
