Senior Zak Koch (Westfield, Mass.) shot an eight-over-par 78 to place seventh and lead UMass Lowell at the Southern New Hampshire University Penmen Invitational Thursday at Lake Sunapee Country Club.
UMass Lowell compiled a score of 332 to place fifth as Saint Anselm won the Invitational with a 309, edging the host Penmen (311). Saint Michael’s (315) placed third and Franklin Pierce (321) fourth.
The Invitational drew 27 players representing five colleges.
Sophomores Justin Barbera (Milton, Mass.) and Takeaki Igarashi (Sacramento, Calf.) both shot an 81 to tie for 14th place. Junior John Kane (Westford, Mass.) rounded out the scoring for the River Hawks with a score of 92 to place 27th.
Tim Rattigan of Saint Anselm earned medalist honors as he shot a four-over-par 74 to edge Southern New Hampshire’s Nick Burke (75) and Saint Michael’s Steve French (75).
UMass Lowell gears up for the Northeast-10 Conference Championship Sunday and Monday at Cyprian Keyes Golf Club in Boylston, Mass.
