The UMass Lowell women's and men's soccer teams return to action this afternoon, the women at Southern New Hampshire (1:00) and the men at home vs. the Univeristy of New Haven (3:00).
The UMass Lowell women (3-2-2, 2-1-2 NE-10) halted a three-match winless streak Wednesday with a 1-0 victory over American International College. The win followed three straight overtime matches in which the River Hawks drew 1-1 at No. 9 Saint Rose; 0-0 at Stonehill and suffered a 2-1 loss at home last Saturday to Adelphi.
The River Hawks meet a Southern New Hampshire squad (4-3-0, 2-2-0 NE-10) which has won two straight matches (vs. C.W. Post, 4-3 OT; vs. Pace, 1-0), both at home, following three straight losses.
UMass Lowell enjoys a week hiatus before hosting Franklin Pierce next Saturday (1:00).
On the men's side, UMass Lowell (2-4-0, 2-2-0 NE-10) is fresh off a thrilling 2-1 double overtime win at American International Wednesday night as freshman Juan Moreira scored in the 88th minute to force overtime and senior Matheus Candido won it in the final minute of double overtime.
The match was UMass Lowell’s third extra time affair in its last four dates.
New Haven is looking for its first win after starting the season 0-4-2 and 0-2-2 in conference. Recently, the Chargers are off losses at Stonehill (2-1) and at home to Merrimack (3-2) and Southern Connecticut (2-0).
The UMass Lowell men visit Bentley Tuesday at 3:30.
