UMass Lowell hockey is set to play the Connecticut Huskies on Tuesday, October 18 in Nashua, NH as part of a collaboration with the Nashua Panthers and Conway Arena. The non-conference game is expected to draw a large crowd with a portion of ticket sales from the event going to support the Nashua Panthers.
"We're thrilled to have the opportunity to showcase our team in front of a new audience, one that may not get to see us play on a regular basis," said head coach Norm Bazin.
The 7 p.m. start will feature raffles, contests and more, giving fans a taste of the atmosphere usually found at the Tsongas Center for River Hawk home games.
Fans can purchase tickets through Nashua Panthers Youth Hockey for $5 each. Tickets are on-sale now at Conway Arena Box Office or via www.NashuaPanthers.org. UMass Lowell season ticket holders will receive admission as part of their season plan and current UML students can get a complimentary ticket with their ID.
"It's a great chance for our young players to see top-notch college hockey right in their own backyard," said Panthers VP Dan Mahoney. "We're excited to be a part of the event and look forward to working with UMass Lowell in the future."
The contest will mark the 23rd all-time meeting between the two programs, with UMass Lowell leading the series 17-5-1. Since elevating the program to Division I, the River Hawks have never lost to the Huskies (3-0-0) and currently hold an eight-game winning streak overall. The last time the two teams met, UMass Lowell defeated Connecticut, 6-0, on Oct. 20, 2001.
The 2011-12 season is merely weeks away as the River Hawks take shape under Bazin, entering his first year at the helm of the program. The club expects to return 20 veteran players and welcomed 12 new faces to the roster.
Season tickets for the 2011-2012 campaign are currently on-sale through the UMass Lowell Ticket Office. Contact Scott Donnelly at (978) 934-4988 or via email at scott_donnelly@uml.edu for more information. To visit the River Hawk ticket page, click here.
