Junior M Bruno Bonicontro (Marlborough, Mass.) opened the scoring in the eighth minute but No. 4 Dowling answered with a goal in either half as UMass Lowell suffered a 2-1 setback in its season-opener at Golden Lions Field.

Mohamed Mboup leveled in the 18th minute and set up Keith Vigorito's goal in the 66th as the Golden Lions stood firm.
