River Hawk baseball players continue to make waves in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League as Mark Sanborn (Hopkinton, Mass.) was honored as the league's Hitter of the Week on Monday afternoon.
The Nashua Silver Knights' first baseman went 7-for-20 (.350) with a grand slam and seven runs batted in over a six-game stretch in which the club went 3-3.
As of Monday, Sanborn is tied for the FCBL lead with five home runs, while also toting a .330 average and 26 RBI. Behind his strong season, Nashua is riding a 19-11 record.
As a junior for UMass Lowell this past season, Sanborn hit .300 with 35 runs scored and 23 RBI. A key piece of the River Hawk offense, he finished tied for second on the club with 60 total hits.
