Junior P/DH Elyssa Boris (Gardner, Mass.) was named to the 2011 All-East Region Second Team by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA), released Monday.
The honor is the latest of several this season for Boris, who was also named Northeast-10 Player of Year and First Team all-conference honoree on May 5.
Boris batted a team-best .405 and also led the River Hawks in hits (66), RBI (51), doubles (15), home runs (13) and slugging percentage (.736). She ranked among NE-10 top five leaders in many offensive categories, including batting average (fifth), hits (third), RBI (second), homeruns (second), slugging percentage (second), and lead the league in doubles.
Boris also dominated from the pitcher’s circle with a 21-14 record, 2.70 ERA and four saves during the year. She finished the season tied for second in the conference in wins (21), innings pitched (210.1) and led with 47 appearances.
The River Hawks finished the season with a 34-20 overall record and a 19-10 showing in conference play. They beat Southern New Hampshire 3-1 in the opening round of the NE-10 tournament then went on to lose to New Haven (4-0) and Southern Connecticut (7-2) in the double-elimination round. Last year, Boris was named to the All-Conference Second Team.
Boris is the daughter of Jayne and Charles Boris of Gardner, Mass. and is Majoring in Exercise Physiology.
