Complete Northeast-10 Release
Two members of the UMass Lowell softball team took home weekly honors, as announced by the Northeast-10 Conference office on Monday afternoon. For the second time this season, junior P Elyssa Boris (Gardner, Mass.) was named NE-10 Pitcher of the Week and for the first time in her collegiate career, 3B Ali Ferraro (Kingston, N.Y.) was tabbed as the conference Rookie of the Week.
The River Hawks went 3-1 on the week, beginning with a midweek split with Bentley on the road, followed by a sweep of Saint Rose at home on Friday. Today they are honoring the four-member senior class in between games of a conference doubleheader against Saint Anselm.
Boris appeared in three games for UMass Lowell, finishing the week with a 0.54 ERA over the three-game stretch. She went 2-0 with a save on the week and struck out nine in 13.0 innings pitched.
From the plate, Boris batted .500, appearing in all four games. She went 6-12 with a run scored and two RBI.
Boris, an exercise physiology major, is the daughter of Jayne and Charles Boris of Gardner, Mass.
Ferraro batted a team-high .583 on the week, starting all four games. She went 7-12 with four runs scored, while five of her seven hits were for extra bases. She blasted a pair of home runs in the squad's game one win over Saint Rose on Friday.
Ferraro tallied five RBI on the week and amassed a 1.417 slugging percentage. She recorded a .643 on base percentage, as well.
Ferraro, a business major, is the daughter of Nadine and James Ferraro of Kingston, N.Y.
