The River Hawk baseball club swept Saturday's double-header with Assumption College at LeLacheur Park, by scores of 8-2 and 2-0. Connor Burnham (Harwich, Mass.) had three RBI in game one, while Taylor Robinson (Haverhill, Mass.) pitched seven scoreless innings in game two.

UMass Lowell boosts its overall record to 26-6 on the season with the sweep and 11-4 in Northeast-10. The Greyhounds slide to 8-22 on the campaign and carry a 4-10 mark in conference play.

In the opening contest, the River Hawks jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the second inning on a trio of RBI singles. Burnham, Matt Jacobs (Hudson, Mass.) and Cam Kneeland (Rowley, Mass.) all lined base hits into the outfield to knock in runs. Sean Burns (Colchester, Vt.) also came home on an error by the second baseman.

Assumption slashed the score in half in the third, taking advantage of a passed ball and a pair of errors. Among the key hits, Wally Derosier (Shrewsbury, Mass.) had an RBI single to right-center.

Burnham re-established the four-run lead in the bottom half of the third, knocking a two-run double over the left fielder's head. The second baseman finished the game 2-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored.

UMass Lowell extended its lead to 8-2 in the eighth on a RBI double by Kneeland and a one-run single from James Katsiroubas (Milton, Mass.).

Starter Garrett Cole (Manchester, N.H.) picked up the win, improving to 4-0. Cole tossed seven innings, allowing three hits, two runs--zero earned--and struck out three. Captain Dustin Ramey (Kingston, N.H.) came out of the pen with two scoreless, and hitless, innings of work.

In the late game, pitching dominated the early going as Robinson held the Greyhounds to one hit through seven innings. Robinson (5-1) struck out four and walked just two while keeping Assumption scoreless.

Rob Noe (Lynnfield, Mass.) put the River Hawks ahead 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth with a two out RBI single through the left side. Dylan Flynn (Upton, Mass.) then pushed the lead to 2-0 in the sixth with an RBI double into the left-center gap.

Jack Leathersich (Beverly, Mass.) took over on the mound in the eighth, striking out the side in order. Leathersich stayed in for the ninth, picking up the save, as he fanned three more batters with a hit sandwiched in between.

Riding four wins in a row, UMass Lowell will head to Waterbury, CN on Monday to face Post University at 3:30 p.m.
