Alumni Barbeque Registration Form

Ten years ago UMass Lowell made its first appearance in the NCAA College World Series, led by legendary Hall of Fame coach Jim Stone. The River Hawks will honor that trailblazing squad during their double-header against American International on April 30 while also raising money for the fight against breast cancer in honor of Stone's wife Patricia.

UMass Lowell will host an alumni barbeque during the noontime double-header against the Yellow Jackets and will honor the team on the field following game one. To sign up for the barbeque, click here.

The River Hawks will simultaneously honor breast cancer survivor Pat Stone by selling limited edition hats featuring a pink "UML" logo and the breast cancer ribbon with all proceeds to benefit the Ellie Fund. Pat Stone was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010 and is currently undergoing a five-year treatment plan.

The Ellie Fund helps fight breast cancer and ease its effects on women and families across Massachusetts. The charity was founded by brothers Jeff and Eliot Popkin in 1995 to honor their mother's courageous nine year fight.

UMass Lowell baseball finished the 2001 season with a 39-19 record, the most wins in program history, while claiming the Northeast-10 regular season and tournament crown. Coach Stone then led the River Hawks through the Northeast Region of the NCAA Tournament to reach the program's first ever College World Series where they defeated Central Missouri (13-5) before falling to St. Mary's (12-1) and Delta State (6-2).

Upon his retirement following the 2003 season, Stone compiled an 801-393-7 over 37 seasons as he guided the program from a small team at Lowell Technological Institute to a perennial powerhouse in the NE-10. During his tenure, the River Hawks earned 14 NCAA Tournament berths.
