The UMass Lowell women's and men's basketball teams host Southern New Hampshire University tonight in the Northeast-10 Conference twin bill at the Costelo Athletic Center (5:30/7:30).
The games will be webcast live on www.goriverhawks.com, the official site of UMass Lowell Athletics, with Scott Sudikoff on the call.
Additionally, JAM'N 94.5 FM and Metro PCS take over the Costello Athletic Center with giveaways, coupons, t-shirts and more. Beginning at 5:30, they'll be taking entries for the Halftime Hook-Up as four lucky students will be selected to participate in a free-throw contest during halftime of the men's game. The winner will have the chance to participate in Metro PCS's 24-Second Shootout to win $10,000.
The UMass Lowell women (7-14, 6-11 in the NE-10) bring the momentum from Saturday's 73-56 victory at Stonehill into the game, which halted a six-game losing skid. The River Hawks won the first meeting over the Penmen this season, 66-57 on Nov. 23 in Manchester, N.H.
The River Hawks meet a Southern New Hampshire squad (10-11, 8-9 NE-10) which has suffered three straight losses - all at home, two by a point. Last Saturday, Franklin Pierce edged the Penmen, 58-57, which was preceded by a 55-54 loss to Saint Anselm and a 57-45 loss to Assumption.
The UMass Lowell men (14-7, 10-7 NE-10) saw their four-game winning streak curtailed Saturday in an 86-56 loss at Stonehill. Previously, the River Hawks scored wins at Saint Michael's (75-71) and at home last Saturday against Southern Connecticut (83-54).
UMass Lowell won the first game over SNHU this season in Manchester, 60-58. The Penmen (10-11, 6-11 NE-10) enter tonight's clash having won three straight and four of their last five games: last Saturday at home against Franklin Pierce (54-59), home to Saint Anselm (65-54) and home against Assumption (84-80).
UMass Lowell visits Merrimack Saturday (1:00, 3:00) and Bentley Wednesday (5:30, 7:30) before ending the regular season at home against Saint Anselm (Feb. 19) and Franklin Pierce (Feb. 23).
