Both in the midst of streaks, UMass Lowell visits Stonehill Saturday afternoon (1:30, 3:30) for a pair of Northeast-10 Conference games at the Merkert Gymnasium. Stonehill swept the first meeting with the women winning 65-52 and the men 69-58.
The UMass Lowell women (6-14 overall 5-11 in the NE-10), looking to snap a six-game losing skein, are fresh off a 73-61 loss at Saint Michael's Thursday night, despite a career-high 17 points, five rebounds and three blocked shots from sophomore Briana Szidat.
The River Hawks meet a Stonehill team (14-7, 9-7 NE-10) which had a five-game winning streak snapped with a 91-79 loss Tuesday at Franklin Pierce. Previously, the Skyhawks posted wins at Le Moyne (71-59) and home against Saint Rose (44-37).
The UMass Lowell men (14-6, 10-6 NE-10) bring a four-game winning streak into the game, extended Thursday in a 75-71 win at Saint Michael's. Previously, the River Hawks scored an 83-54 win at home Against Southern Connecticut and a 78-70 win at Pace.
Stonehill (17-4, 12-4 NE-10) enters the game winner of four straight and 12 of its last 13 games, including Tuesday's 65-64 triumph at Franklin Pierce, in which a pair of free throws with 1.2 seconds left sealed the win. The Skyhawks also won last Saturday at home against Saint Rose (72-62) and prior at Le Moyne (84-82) behind a half court shot at the horn.
UMass Lowell returns home Tuesday to host Southern New Hampshire (5:30/7:30).
