The streaking UMass Lowell women's and men's basketball teams visit Bentley University for a Northeast-10 Conference twin bill tonight at the Dana Center (5:30, 7:30).
The UMass Lowell women (9-14 overall, 8-11 in the NE-10), winner of three straight games, look to avenge an 84-60 loss in the first meeting against the Falcons on Dec. 1 in Lowell. The River Hawks are in a groove, having won 74-61 at Merrimack Saturday; at home against Southern New Hampshire, 92-87 in overtime last week; and at Stonehill, 73-56, on Feb. 5.
Bentley (20-3, 17-2 NE-10), ranked No. 17 in the latest WBCA Division II poll, enters the game having won its last five games and eight of nine, the sole blemish a 70-60 loss at Saint Rose on Jan. 26. Since, the Falcons have turned aside Pace (73-61), Merrimack away (67-48), Saint Michael's (75-57), Saint Anselm away (69-63) and Southern New Hampshire (73-56).
The UMass Lowell men (16-7, 12-7 NE-10), ranked No. 5 in the latest NCAA East region poll, enter tonight's match a winner of two straight and six of the last seven games, including last week's against Southern New Hampshire (67-63) at home and Merrimack (70-60) away.
The River Hawks meet the frontrunner Falcons (17-6, 15-4 NE-10), who sit on top of both the NE-10 and the latest NCAA East Region Poll. Bentley returned to the win column last weekend with an 83-74 victory over Southern New Hampshire, which followed consecutive losses at Saint Anselm (67-66) and home to Saint Michael's (54-42).
The Falsons won the first meeting this season, 65-61, Dec. 1 in Lowell.
UMass Lowell hosts Saint Anselm Saturday (2:00, 4:00) and wraps the regular season next Wednesday against Franklin Pierce (5:30, 7:30).
