The UMass Lowell women's and men's basketball teams host Saint Anselm tonight in a pair of Northeast-10 Conference basketball games at the Costello Athletic Center.
Following a split last week - an impressive 76-72 win at Stonehill followed by a 70-65 loss to Merrimack at the Tsongas Center - the UMass Lowell women (2-5, 1-4 NE-10) look to avenge last year's 57-50 loss to the Hawks at the Costello Athletic Center in February. The two rivals split last year as the River Hawks won the first meeting, 55-53, at Saint Anselm's Stoutenburgh Gymnasium.
Saint Anselm (7-3, 2-3 NE-10) is vastly improved from last year and had won two straight (over Merrimack, 70-64, and Nyack College, 68-50) before falling to Franklin Pierce Saturday, 68-61.
The UMass Lowell men (5-3, 2-3 NE-10) look to build off Saturday's 68-66 win over Merrimack at the Tsongas Center. The River Hawks meet a Saint Anselm squad (2-6, 0-5 NE-10) which has suffered four straight losses and is seeking its first NE-10 victory.
Last week, the Hawks fell at Franklin Pierce (77-52) Saturday and at home to Merrimack (81-68) Wednesday. Last year, each team held firm at home: Saint Anselm 89-67 on Dec. 3 and UMass Lowell 88-75 on Feb. 19.
UMass Lowell closes the semester Saturday at home with a twin bill against Franklin Pierce (women's game at 2:00; men at 4:00).
