The UMass Lowell women's and men's basketball teams host Franklin Pierce this afternoon in a pair of Northeast-10 Conference basketball clashes at the Costello Athletic Center (2:00/4:00).
After today's games, UMass Lowell enjoys a two-plus week hiatus as the women enter the C.W. Post Pioneer Shootout Dec. 29-30 while the men host Concordia Dec. 31 on 1:00.
The UMass Lowell women (3-5, 2-4 NE-10) are fresh off a milestone 70-67 victory Wednesday night over Saint Anselm, in which the River Hawks ercame a 16-point deficit in the second half and ended the game with a 17-3 run for the win.
The win was UMass Lowell's second in three games which followed a 76-72 win at Stonehill and a 70-65 loss to Merrimack.
Franklin Pierce (6-1, 5-1 NE-10) suffered its first loss of the season - 73-59 at home to Bentley Wednesday - which halted a six-game winning streak.
The UMass Lowell men (6-3, 3-3 NE-10) aim for their third straight victory and are fresh off a 68-66 win over Merrimack last Saturday and an 82-79 win over Saint Anselm Wednesday night.
Franklin Pierce (8-2, 4-2 NE-10) is off to its best start in more than a decade and had a six-game win skein snapped at home Wednesday night against Bentley, 70-60. Previously, the Ravens won at Southern New Hampshire (72-67) and cruised by Saint Anselm 77-52.
