Hockey East Weekly Release
Scott Wilson (Oakville, Ont.) netted Hockey East's Rookie of the Week award after scoring a goal and two assists during Saturday's 7-1 win over #12 Boston University.
Wilson scored the game's third goal at 1:32 into the second period, knocking in a rebound off of Michael Budd's (Burlington, Ont.) shot. He went on to assist on tallies from Daniel Furlong (Stoneham, Mass.) and Derek Arnold (Foxboro, Mass.) to put the game out of reach and finished with a plus-3 rating.
The Pittsburgh Penguins prospect leads all UMass Lowell freshmen with six points on two goals and four assists. Through six games, Wilson is tied for second on the club with a plus-4 rating.
Wilson and the River Hawks put together one their finest outings of the season to defeat the Terriers at home for the first time since 2007. As UMass Lowell won by six goals, it handed Boston University its worst loss since 1999.
The honor marks the River Hawks second of the season as classmate Terrence Wallin (Yardley, Penn.) also earned the Rookie of the Week on Oct. 17.
UMass Lowell heads north this weekend as the club visits Maine for a pair of games with the Black Bears.
