UMass Lowell hockey plays host to Alabama-Huntsville on Friday in a post-Thanksgiving matinee at the Tsongas Center at 4 p.m.

The River Hawks (6-4-0, 4-3-0 Hockey East) are 8-1-0 all-time against the Chargers (0-11-1), in a series that dates back to 1989. UMass Lowell has won the last five meetings between the clubs, with the last loss coming on Oct. 25, 1991.

Don't forget to sharpen your skates before Friday's action as fans are invited to join their favorite players on the ice for the Annual Skate with the River Hawks following the game. Complimentary skate rentals will be provided for those who need them in the East Entrance of the Tsongas Center. After the game, please head to the ice level via the East Elevator or East Stairwell behind Section 120.

Also, UMass Lowell will be hosting its first-ever Touch-A-Truck event on Friday. The trucks will be available from 1:30-3:30 p.m. for children to see and sit in.

With a split last weekend against New Hampshire (L, 5-0) and Massachusetts (W, 4-0), the River Hawks have eclipsed their 2010-11 win total (5). Sophomore goaltender Doug Carr (Hanover, Mass.)made 16 stops against the Minutemen to record his first collegiate shutout and the program's first since Feb. 26, 2010--a span of 49 games.

On the offensive side, second-year defenseman Chad Ruhwedel (San Diego, Calif.)scored a goal and two assists against Massachusetts. Ruhwedel is enjoying a strong sophomore campaign, tied for third on the team with nine points on two goals and seven assists.

Leading the offense is junior captain Riley Wetmore (Swanton, Vt.)with 11 points (7g, 4a). The forward is tied for seventh in the nation with four power play goals.

The Chargers have struggled to generate offense this season, scoring just 10 total goals. Freshman Kyle Lysaght (Marietta, Ga.) leads the program with five points on three goals and two assists. Lysaght has scored three of Alabama-Huntsville's four power play goals.

Despite an 0-9-1 record, sophomore goaltender Clarke Saunders (Brockville, Ont.) has played well in net, recording a .915 save percentage and 3.30 goals against average. In the Chargers' only non-loss, Saunders stopped 55-of-56 shots on goal by Air Force in a 1-1 tie on Oct. 21.
