With three regular season matches remaining, UMass Lowell volleyball visits Stonehill College on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. The River Hawks are looking to improve upon their eighth-place standing in the Northeast-10, the final spot in the impending Northeast-10 Tournament.
UMass Lowell (11-8, 7-5 NE-10) is coming off of a three set sweep at the hands of Southern Connecticut St. on Friday. Sophomore Brooke Peterson (Del Mar, Calif.) landed 12 kills to lead the offense.
Peterson is putting together a strong second-year campaign, averaging 2.16 kills per set with a .242 attack percentage.
For the season, senior middle-hitter Lea Freeman (Methuen, Mass.) continues to lead the team with 3.12 kills and 0.80 blocks per set. Among the top players in the NE-10, Freeman ranks eighth in kills and ninth in blocks.
The Skyhawks (24-5, 12-1) enter play following back-to-back losses for the first time this season, falling in five to New Haven and getting swept by Shippensburg. Prior to that, Stonehill was enjoying a seven-game winning streak that included four consecutive sweeps.
Leading the charge for the Skyhawks has been sophomore Sydney Maxey (Hutto, Texas), who ranks third in the NE-10 with 3.31 kills per set.
Following tonight, the River Hawks will host St. Rose on Friday (7 PM) and Le Moyne on Saturday (1 PM) to close out the regular season.
