Two of the Northeast-10's top volleyball programs meet as the River Hawks (9-4, 5-1) host New Haven (10-4, 5-0) in Costello Gym at 1 p.m. UMass Lowell is coming off of back-to-back sweeps of St. Anselm and St. Michael's. In the victory over the Purple Knights, senior Lea Freeman (Methuen, Mass.) scored a match-best 12 kills and five blocks.
Following today, the River Hawks will travel to Adelphi next Friday for a 7 p.m. match.

UMass Lowell (6-4-0, 6-2-0 NE-10) goes for its sixth straight victory this afternoon - which would match its longest win streak since 2008 - and is fresh off 2-1 victory over Saint Michael's Wednesday. Matheus Candido leveled 1-1 in the 90th minute on a penalty kick and Daniel Galvin scored the winner in the 92nd.
The River Hawks meet a struggling Saint Rose team (1-10-0, 0-7-0 NE-10) which is playing its third match this week. The Golden Knights defeated Concordia on Monday at home and followed with a 2-0 loss to Le Moyne on Wednesday.

As the UMass Lowell men continue to thrive, so do the women. The River Hawks (6-2-2, 5-1-2 NE-10) go for their fifth consecutive win this afternoon at New Haven and are fresh off a 2-0 triumph at Saint Michael's Tuesday, preceded by a 1-0 victory last Saturday over Franklin Pierce.
New Haven (6-4-0, 4-4-0 NE-10) enters the match winner in three of its last four, the latest a 2-1 overtime win at Dowling Tuesday preceded by a 2-0 loss at home to Assumption.

On the heels of its first loss in over a month, fourth-ranked UMass Lowell field hockey (11-2, 5-1) visits Franklin Pierce (5-7, 2-2) in Rindge, NH at 1 p.m. Last time out, the River Hawks lost a heart-breaking overtime decision at Bentley, 1-0. UMass Lowell will look to sophomore Rachel McCarthy (Reading, Mass.) for its offense as she's totaled 34 points (14g, 6a) in the last seven matches. Looking ahead, the River Hawks host Adelphi on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
