Sophomore GK Chris Maierle (Wantagh, N.Y.), was named the Northeast-10 Conference Goalkeeper of the Week Monday after leading UMass Lowell to a 2-0 clip last week.
Maierle backstopped UMass Lowell to victories at Bentley (2-1) last Tuesday and at Le Moyne (1-0) Saturday, the third and fourth straight wins for the River Hawks entering Wednesday's home clash against Saint Michael's (7:00).
Maierle stopped four shots in the victory at Bentley and followed with two saves in the win at Le Moyne - his second clean sheet in three matches.
Maierle currently ranks in a tie for second among NE-10 goalkeepers in fewest goals conceded (five) and fifth in both goals against average (0.84) and save percentage (.792). He is 4-2-0 on the season with two shutouts.
UMass Lowell is currently 5-4-0 overall and 5-2-0 in the NE-10 (tied for third place).
A former standout at Friends Academy ('10), Maierle is the son of Walter and Betty Maierle of Wantagh, N.Y.
