After No. 1 Boston College (6-1-0, 4-0-0) handed UMass Lowell its first Hockey East loss of the season on Friday, 4-2, the River Hawks (2-2-0, 0-1-0 HE) are looking to return the favor on Saturday night at the Conte Forum in Chestnut Hill at 7 p.m.

UMass Lowell trails in the all-time series with the Eagles, 31-57-7, and are stuck on a five-game losing streak against Boston College. Despite the skid, three of the last five games between the clubs have been decided by two goals or less.

Last night, the River Hawks received goals from seniors Michael Budd (Burlington, Ont.) and Matt Ferreira (Brampton, Ont.) to tie the game at 2-2 in the second period, but UMass Lowell couldn't contain the top-ranked Eagles from skating away with the 4-2 decision.

Ferreira is now tied with junior captain Riley Wetmore (Swanton, Vt.) for the team lead with three goals each. The duo has combined to score half of all UMass Lowell tallies this season.

Senior forward David Vallorani (Hamilton, Ont.) continued on the path to 100 career points, recording a pair of assists to cut the magic number to 13. If Vallorani can reach the century barrier this year, he'll become the 40th player in program history to do so and just the 20th in the school's Division I history. The last River Hawk to record his 100th career point was Kory Falite in 2009-10.

For the Eagles last night, Steven Whitney (Reading, Mass.) came through with a goal and assist to lead the attack. Whitney now has seven points on three goals and four assists.

Boston College's most consistent scorer this year has been sophomore Bill Arnold (Needham, Mass.), who has a team-best 10 points (5g, 5a).

Following tonight's game, the River Hawks are off until Saturday, Nov. 5, when Boston University comes to the Tsongas Center at 7 p.m.
