Oct. 29, 2011

Live Stats & Text | Game Program

UMass Lowell hosts Le Moyne College Saturday afternoon (1:00) at Cushing Field in the regular season finale for both teams.

After consecutive hiccups, UMass Lowell looks to end the regular season on a positive in today’s clash with Le Moyne. The River Hawks suffered a 2-1 loss at Assumption Wednesday and a 2-0 loss at Pace last Saturday, which ended a school-record eight-match winning streak.

Regardless of the outcome of today’s match, UMass Lowell will be the No. 3 seed for the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament and will host the No. 6 seed – which could be one of five teams – on Tuesday. Saint Rose and Merrimack are locked in as the Nos. 1 and 2 seeds.

A victory this afternoon will virtually seal UMass Lowell’s place in the NCAA Tournament, which begins Friday, Nov. 11. The latest NCAA East Region poll has the River Hawks at No. 3 behind No. 2 Saint Rose and No. 1 Bridgeport. Merrimack came in at No. 4 and was followed by No. 5 Southern New Hampshire, No. 6 Stonehill, No. 7 Southern Connecticut and No. 8 Adelphi.

The River Hawks are 4-2-2 against teams ranked in the latest NCAA East Region poll.

UMass Lowell leads the all-time series with Le Moyne 8-3-1 and has won three straight and seven of the last eight meetings, including last year’s clash in Syracuse (4-2) and the 2009 match in Lowell (1-0).

The last time Le Moyne scored a victory in Lowell was in the first meeting in 1995 (8-1). The two rivals drew 1-1 in Lowell in 2002.
