UMass Lowell visits Assumption tonight (7:00) in its second-to-last regular season match of the year, and looking to ascend up the Northeast-10 Conference women's soccer standings.
Should the River Hawks win tonight's match and Saturday's home finale against Le Moyne (1:00), they will top out at 35 points and conceivably could still win the NE-10 regular season title should Saint Rose (34 points) and Merrimack (31) drop their remaining two matches.
Saint Rose visits Southern Connecticut tonight (7:00) and Bentley Saturday (1:00) while Merrimack hosts Stonehill tonight (7:00) and Pace Saturday (6:00). Suthern Connecticut remains in the fight with 26 points and, following the Saint Rose clash tonight, visits Saint Anselm Saturday (2:00).
UMass Lowell (10-3-2, 9-2-2 in the NE-10) is fresh off a 2-0 loss at Pace Saturday, which halted a school-record eight-game winning streak. Earlier last week, the River Hawks defeated Southern Connecticut 3-1.
UMass Lowell meets an Assumption team that has struggled to a 3-11-1 record and a 1-11-1 clip in the NE-10. The Greyhounds bring a five-match losing skid into the match, extended last week at Bentley (2-1) and at Southern New Hampshire (2-0).
Assumption leads the all-time series against UMass Lowell, 12-3-2, but it is the River Hawks with the momentum, having gone unbeaten in five straight matches (3-0-2). UMass Lowell won last year's clash, 1-0, at Cushing Field and the 2009 match, 1-0, in Worcester.
