UMass Lowell hosts No. 14 Southern New Hampshire this afternoon in a key Northeast-10 Conference men's soccer clash at Cushing Field.
Currently, UMass Lowell - on seventh straight victories - is thriving with an 8-4-0 record and an 8-2-0 clip in the Northeast-10 Conference, and enters a critical junction of the season beginning today with Southern New Hampshire and Saturday at Southern Connecticut (4:00).
The River Hawks, who were 1-10-1 this time last year, host East Region power Dominican next Tuesday (7:00) and host Stonehill Friday, Oct. 28 in the regular season finale.
With its second come-from-behind victory in three matches, UMass Lowell defeated Saint Anselm 2-1 Saturday behind a goal from Dan Galvin in the 66th minute and the winner in the 99th by freshman Homero Morais.
UMass Lowell could match the school record for consecutive wins - set in 2004 - should it win its eighth today.
Southern New Hampshire leads the all-time series against UMass Lowell, 19-9-6, but recent history favors the River Hawks, who have gone 5-1-2 against the Penmen in the last eight meetings. The two teams drew 0-0 in double overtime last year in Manchester while Southern New Hampshire won 2-0 in Lowell in 2009.
