Dominican College scored two goals in the first nine minutes of the second half and never looked back en route to a 3-0 victory over UMass Lowell Tuesday in a non-conference men's soccer clash in Orangeburg, N.Y.

With the loss, UMass Lowell slipped to 0-2-0 thus far entering Saturday's non-conference match against the University of Bridgeport (1:00) at Cushing Field. Dominican improved to 2-1-0.

Following a scoreless first half, junior M Alan Heavey broke the drought just over four minutes into the second half when he converted from just inside the six-yard line from freshman F Jorge Zubillaga.

Just four minutes later, sophomore M Sony Narro headed home a corner kick from sophomore M Pedro Franklin de Araujo.

Junior M John Langdon added an insurance goal in the 81st minute when his unassisted strike from the edge of the 18-yard box eluded junior GK Matt Lavery (Nashua, N.H.) into the low right corner of the goal.

"In the first half we had three or four great chances that we just missed or scuffed," said UML Head Coach Bryan Scales. "We were doing fine. But after that first goal it was heavy sledding for us. They put us under a lot of pressure and we couldn't break that rhythm. We'll just have to regroup and get ready for the next one."

UMass Lowell's best opportunity came in the 20th minute when senior F Stephen Potcner (Wilmington, Mass.) broke free and roped a shot straight at junior GK Brandon Heembrock, which he parried. The rebound, however, came back to Potcner, but his header went over the bar.

The Chargers outshot the River Hawks, 15-12 overall and 4-3 on target. Lavery had one save for the River Hawks while Heembrock had three saves for Dominican.
