Senior Jacqui Barrett (Woburn, MA) placed fifth among 25 Division I and II throwers in the College Women's Shot Put Thursday at the Penn Relays.
Barrett threw for a distance of 48 feet, 3.5 inches and finished as the top Division II thrower.
Thanithia Billings of Princeton won the event with a throw of 50' 0.75'', edging past Fidela James of the University of Florida, who threw 49' 11.25''. Lakendra
Thames of central Florida placed third (49' 4.25'') while Amanda Van Dyke of Texas took fourth (49' 1.5'').
Barrett achieved the distance on her first of six attempts. She followed with distances of 47' 6.5'', 47' 9.0'', 46' 6.5, 46' 2.5 and 46' 6.5''.
Barrett will join the rest of her teammates Sunday at the Brown University Springtime Invitational.
