Senior G Thomas Baudinet scored 40 points to lead Saint Anselm College over UMass Lowell, 89-67, Saturday afternoon in a Northeast-10 Conference men’s basketball clash at the Stoutenburgh Gymnasium.
The loss was the second straight for UMass Lowell, which slipped to 4-2 overall and 2-2 in the NE-10 entering Wednesday’s clash at Franklin Pierce (7:30). Saint Anselm improved to 6-1 overall and 4-1 in the Conference.
Freshman G Akeem Williams (Brockton, Mass.) led the River Hawks with 23 points while junior G Robbie Walton (South Boston, Mass.) added 10 points and three assists.
Baudinet converted 15 of 18 field goal attempts, including 6 of 7 from 3-point range, and all four free throws. He also dished out five assists and grabbed eight rebounds.
“What can you say? Baudinet had one of the best offensive performances I’ve seen at any level,” said UML Head Coach Greg Herenda. “Offensively, other than Akeem, we struggled, just plain and simple, to put the ball in the basket.
“Our effort was great, but we need to continue to work on our execution,” he added.
