UMass Lowell sophomore Shannon Cunningham (Foxboro, Mass.), junior Jeff Wundt (Southwick, Mass.) and freshman David Brown (Chelmsford, Mass.) were among Northeast-10 Conference weekly award winners, the Conference announced Tuesday.
Cunningham was named the NE-10 Women's Track Co-Athlete of the Week while Wundt was named the NE-10 Men's Track Athlete of the Week. Brown was named the Men's Track Co-Rookie of the Week for the second straight week.
All three enjoyed stellar efforts at the Harvard Open Saturday at the University's Track and Tennis Center which drew colleges and athletes from all three NCAA divisions and postgraduate track and field clubs.
Cunningham captured the 400 meters and provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championship with a time of 57.05 seconds, currently sixth on the NCAA Division II list.
Cunningham shared the honor with Courtni Walker of Southern Connecticut, who won the 60 meter dash at Harvard in 7.69 seconds.
Wundt captured the 500 meters with a time of 1:05.59 while Brown emerged in a field of 74 runners to win the 800 meters in 1:57.94. Brown shared the honor with Tevonne Hemmans, who won the 600 meters at the Southern Connecticut Alumni Meet in 1:23.73.
UMass Lowell returns to action Sunday, Jan. 9 at the Dartmouth Relays.
