Bianca Simmons, a sophomore from Middletown, Conn. (Mercy H.S.), was named the Northeast-10 Conference Co-Player of the Week Monday after leading UMass Lowell to a pair of wins last week.
Simmons, who put together averages of 14.5 points, 7.5 assists and 4.5 rebounds, shared the honor with junior Kelly Meredith of Assumption College who had averages of 20.5 points and 5.0 rebounds in two victories last week.
Simmons opened the week with 19 points, seven assists and six rebounds as UMass Lowell defeated Southern New Hampshire University, 66-57, last Tuesday in Manchester, N.H. She followed with 10 points, eight assists, three rebounds and three steals as the River Hawks defeated Walsh University, 63-61, in North Canton, Ohio.
For the season, Simmons has registered averages of 14.6 points, 4.0 assists and 3.8 rebounds.
UMass Lowell (2-3 overall, 1-1 in the NE-10) hosts Bentley Wednesday night at 5:30 and visits Saint Anselm Saturday at 1:30.
