The UMass Lowell men's basketball team (1-0) will host another non-conference opponent in the second day of the 2010 Tip-Off Classic at UMass Lowell, this afternoon at 4:00 p.m. They will take on the Golden Falcons of Felician College (0-1) this afternoon in Costello Athletic Center. Prior to the River Hawks' game, Post and Pace will tip off at 2:00 p.m.

The River Hawks picked up an 85-79 victory over Post in the first round of the tournament yesterday and are looking to continue to set the tone of the 2010-11 season.

Sophomore guard Scotty Tavares-Taylor (Roxbury, Mass.) led the way for the River Hawks in yesterday's tilt, tallying 21 points and adding a game-best six assists. Classmate Matt Welch (Lowell, Mass.) netted 20 points and sank four of the squad's five three-pointers.

Felician is coming off a 90-75 loss to Pace University in the first round of the Tip-Off Classic. Forward Devon Young and center Kashiff Foster led the Golden Falcons with 20 points apiece, while Kashiff and Antoine Obery grabbed a team-best six rebounds each, as well. With his 20-point performance, Young became Felician's all-time leading scorer with 1,455 points.

The teams have met just three times in their long histories and UMass Lowell owns the 3-0 advantage all-time. They last met on Dec. 30, 2001, when the River Hawks captured a 64-56 victory in the Doc Jacobs Classic in Colchester, Vt. UMass Lowell's all-time leading scorer, Elad Inbar, netted 10 points in the final three minutes to lift the squad to victory.

After today's contest, UMass Lowell will continue its home stretch, hosting the Purple Knights of Saint Michael's College at Costello Gymnasium on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. The tilt will mark the start of the River Hawks' Northeast-10 Conference schedule.
