All their preparation will be put to the test as the UMass Lowell men's basketball program will kickoff the 2010-11 season by hosting the 2010 Tip-Off Classic and taking on the Eagles of Post University this afternoon at 2:00.

The River Hawks return six players from the defending NE-10 Championship team and welcome eight new faces to the ranks. Last year's team went 20-12 overall with a 13-9 clip in conference action, tied for sixth at season's end.

The Eagles have also revamped their roster, adding nine new players to the squad. Last year, the squad went 13-17 overall and an even 9-9 in Central Atlantic action.

The teams have met just five times in their long histories and UMass Lowell owns the 5-0 advantage all-time. The series has been much closer than the record would make it seem, though, as UMass Lowell has never defeated the Eagles by more than seven points and their average margin of victory is just 5.0.

After today's contest, the River Hawks will continue on to play the Golden Falcons of Felician College at 4:00 tomorrow afternoon. Northeast-10 Conference opponent Pace will also be playing in the tournament.
