UMass Lowell Cruises to 3-0 Win Over Holy Family

The River Hawk volleyball team climbed back to .500 on the season with its second win of the day, a quick 3-0 victory over Holy Family in UMass Lowell's final match of the Bridgeport Tournament. The River Hawks were fueled by perennial standout Elsa LeGrand (Highlands Ranch, CO) who knocked home a team-high 13 kills.
The match scores were 25-17, 25-22 and 25-17.
The win propels UMass Lowell's record to 3-3 on the season, while the loss slides Holy Family to 2-5 in 2009.
LeGrand displayed many of the skills that made her a Second-Team Northeast-10 All-Conference selection last season, attacking with a .357 hitting percentage and tallying three blocks.
Senior setter Nichole Rondeau (Dracut, MA) continued her impressive weekend with 30 more assists against the Tigers. In addition, Rondeau served three aces and dug five balls.
Two River Hawks finished with double-digit digs, as senior Allie Eide (Gresham, OR) and junior Vicky Wong (Tewksbury, MA) each had 11. Teammate Ashlee Scott (Quincy, MA) served a match-best five aces.
UMass Lowell will now have the chance to push their record over .500 as they welcome Post University to the Costello Gym on Tuesday starting at 7 p.m.
