Box Score

UMass Lowell overcame a 2-0 deficit but surrendered the game-winning goal in the 75th minute in a 3-2 Northeast-10 Conference loss at American International College Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, the River Hawks slipped to 3-4-0 overall and 2-3-0 in the NE-10 entering Wednesday’s clash at Stonehill (4:00). AIC improved to 5-5-0 overall and 2-3-0 in the Conference.

Sophomore F Thomas Denomme had a hand in all three goals for AIC, setting up the first and the game-winner while scoring the Yellow Jackets second.

Denomme capitalized on a defensive miscue in the 13th minute and fed sophomore D Barnaba Madol on the right side of the box, who beat senior G Ryan Richards (Holden, MA) inside the far post.

Just 6:11 later, Denomme won a midfield tackle, penetrated down the right side and uncorked a 25-yard blast which found its way inside the far post for a 2-0 cushion.

UMass Lowell cut the deficit in half when senior M Jhony Valencia (Lowell, MA) launched a corner kick headed inside the near post by senior D Corey Samuelson (Westboro, MA), with help from junior M Guillermo Cisneros (Methuen, MA).

Senior F Jeffery Danso (Worcester, MA) brought UMass Lowell level when he capitalized on a defensive miscue by AIC, beat a defender and slotted past senior G Ryan Brooks-Newton.

AIC, however, scored the winner when Denomme fed graduate F Prince Ojok, who beat Richards with a low shot from the right side inside the left post.

Despite the loss, UMass Lowell outshot the Yellow Jackets 21-15 overall and 13-8 on target. Richards had five saves while Brooks-Newton stopped 11 shots.
