Junior OH Sarah Coscia (Pittsfield, MA) was named the UMass Lowell/Lowell Five Savings Bank Athlete of the Week Tuesday after leading the UMass Lowell volleyball team to a 3-1 clip last week.
Coscia compiled 49 kills (3.5 per game) while hitting .457 in leading the River Hawks to a 3-0 sweeps over Post University and American International College, as well as a 3-2 loss to Georgian Court and a 3-0 sweep over Bloomfield.
In the win against Post, Coscia registered 12 kills and five blocks while hitting .514 in the 25-16, 25-11, 25-17 win; and followed with six kills and a block in the victory at AIC (25-21, 25-20, 25-11).
In UMass Lowell's two matches in the Bentley Tournament (played at UMass Lowell), Coscia compiled a team-high 19 kills while hitting .514 despite the loss against Georgian Court (20-25, 25-21, 25-22, 16-25, 15-13). She capped the week with 12 kills while hitting .500 in the 25-14, 25-16, 25-18 win over Bloomfield.
Coscia, named the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week Monday, currently ranks fourth among NE-10 leaders in hitting percentage (.373) and kills per game (3.22).
The River Hawks (6-4 overall, 1-0 in the NE-10) visit Saint Michael's Wednesday at 7:00.
A forensics chemistry major, Coscia is the daughter of Greg and Liz Coscia of Pittsfield, MA.
