UMass Lowell volleyball junior outside-hitter Sarah Coscia (Pittsfield, MA) was named the Northeast-10 Player of the Week on Monday. Coscia played spectacularly during a 3-1 stretch for the River Hawks (6-4, 1-0 NE-10), nailing 49 kills with a .457 attack percentage.

This marks the second time this season Coscia has been named Player of the Week, an award that has been given out just three times in 2009. She claimed the honor to open the season on August 31.

Coscia averaged 3.50 kills per set last week, highlighted with 12 kills, five blocks and a .526 hitting percentage in a three-set sweep of Post University of last Tuesday. She also had a team-best 19 kills with a .514 hitting percentage in UMass Lowell's five-set loss to Georgian Court on Saturday.

As of Monday, she ranks fourth in the NE-10 in kills (3.22) and fifth in hitting percentage (.373).

Coscia and the River Hawks return to the court on Wednesday as they travel to Vermont for a conference battle with St. Michael's at 6 p.m.
