6:35-7:15 IN STUDIO: Nate Jenkins Just weeks after the five former River Hawks played in the World Championship of Hockey, Former distance runner extraordinaire Nate Jenkins, a 2004 graduate, was named to the U.S. Marathon Team for the World Track & Field Championship Aug. 15-23 in Berlin. Jenkins joins us in studio to discuss the grueling training he is about to undergo and what he hopes to accomplish.
7:15-7:35 Gary Gardner, Track & Field: UMass Lowell Head Coach Gary Gardner calls in directly from the track at the 2009 NCAA Championship, which started Thursday, at which 10 River Hawks are competing. Five athletes are in action Thursday night – Christina DaLomba (1,500), Doug Caves and Andrew Grange (400), Sarah Brassard and Tim Guerin (3,000 meter steeplechase), the first of the three-day event.
7:35-7:50 Lauren Raimondi, Track & Field: There is no sophomore jinx for Lauren Raimondi, who established herself one of the top athletes in the country in the high jump, and regionally in the 100 meter hurdles. It’s been a whirlwind several weeks for Raimondi, who won the New England and Northeast-10 Conference Championship in the high jump, was named the East Region Field Athlete of the Year and enters the NCAAs seeded sixth. Raimondi competes on Saturday and we’ll fins out how she’s preparing.
