For 37 years, Jim Stone was the baseball coach at UMass Lowell, where he compiled an all-time record of 801-393-7 and guided the Chiefs and River Hawks into the NCAA Tournament 14 times. Recently, he received word that he will be inducted into the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Hall of Fame in January of 2010, an honor long overdue and the culmination of a fulfilling career. The NCAA Division II Golf rankings have been released and UMass Lowell is once again in the midst of the field. Head Coach Gary Mucica, who resurrected the program in 2004, had the River Hawks in the NCAAs after four seasons and, barring a disaster is looking forward to his second. Mucica checks in on the eve of the River Hawks next tournament, the Le Moyne Invitational and explains why a good showing is pivotal.
