EASTON, Mass. (Mar. 26, 2009) - Pat Devlin (Tewksbury, Mass.) went 3-for-4, but Stonehill defeated UMass Lowell, 6-3, Thursday afternoon in Northeast-10 baseball action at Lou Gorman Field.

The win snapped the Skyhawks six-game losing streak. They improved to 8-10 overall and 1-4 in the NE-10. The loss ended the River Hawks eight-game win streak. They are 11-4 overall and 4-1 in league play.

The Skyhawks had six runs on 10 hits including two multiple run innings. Three of the six runs were unearned on two UMass Lowell errors.

Stonehill scored multiple runs in two innings beginning with a two-run home run from Ryan Healey (Lynn, Mass.) in the first. The Skyhawks scored two unearned runs in the fifth.

Mitch Davis (Bow, N.H.), Nate Weber, Javier Guzman (San Juan, P.R.) and Shane Franz (Cazenovia, N.Y.) each had two hits for Stonehill. Davis and Weber each scored two runs.

UML had eight hits for the game. Devlin led the River Hawks offensively with three hits and a run scored. Luke Wallace (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) was 1-for-3 with two RBI.

All three River Hawk run came in the third inning. Wallace had the big hit with a two-run triple. Tim Keene (Berlin, N.H.), who went 2-for-5, had an RBI single in the third.

Justin Perry (Feeding Hills, Mass.) got the win on the mound working four scoreless innings. He allowed just two hits and struck out three.

Starter Shane Penzone (Hudson, Mass.) allowed three hits on six hits in four innings. He did not figure into the decision.

Dan Corrigan (Portsmouth, R.I.) picked up the save for Stonehill. He worked a perfect ninth inning.

Kyle Davis (Rochester, N.H.) suffered the loss for the River Hawks. He allowed five runs (two earned) on six hits in 4.2 innings. He struck out two.

The River Hawks return to the field Saturday afternoon for a doubleheader with Bentley. Game one is scheduled to begin at noon. The Skyhawks also play Saturday. They have a doubleheader at New Haven.
