UMass Lowell suffered a 5-2 loss to Wisconsin-Parkside, followed by a 3-2 heartbreak in 10 innings to Nebraska-Omaha Friday at the Rebel Spring Softball Games in Kissimmee, FL.
With the losses, UMass Lowell slipped to 0-10 entering Wednesday’s home opener against Saint Anselm (3:00). Wisconsin-Parkside improved to 8-8.
Parkside scored one run in each of the first two innings, but the River Hawks knotted the score in the third behind a two-run shot by freshman Lindsi Panarelli (Shrewsbury, MA).
The Rangers, however, capitalized in the sixth when senior Amanda Miller cracked a two-out, three-run home run. Miller led UWP, hitting 3 for 3.
Junior P Jessica Bryant earned the win as she replaced junior Lanaya Gutowski in the fourth inning and retired nine straight batters.
Freshman Elissa Boris (Gardner, MA) slipped to 0-5 with the loss, scattering four runs (three earned), five hits and five walks while striking out three in 5.2 innings.
