Moorhead Late Show Sinks UMass Lowell, 7-2

Minnesota State-Moorhead scored four runs in the sixth inning to pull away from a 3-2 lead Wednesday to keep UMass Lowell winless at the rebel Spring Softball Games.

Junior Katie Hebert (Lowell, MA) and freshman Nikko Tremblay (Merrimack, NH) each hit solo home runs, but Minnesota State-Moorhead compiled 15 hits en route to the win. '

Hebert’s solo shot came in the first inning, but the Dragons answered with three runs in the bottom half of the inning, led by sophomore Molly Keeler, who had an RBI double; and sophomore P Mara Litzer who reached on an error to drive in two more runs.

Tremblay cut the deficit to 3-2 with her solo home run in the six, but Moorhead countered with four runs in the bottom half, spurred by a two-run double by freshman Amanda Hoefer and an RBI double by Litzer.

Litzer scattered five hits, two earned runs and no walks while striking out seven.

Freshman P Elissa Boris (Gardner, MA) slipped to 0-3 on the season as she allowed four earned runs on 15 hits and four walks while striking out one.

Boris led UMass Lowell’s offense, hitting 2 for 3 with a pair of singles. Litzer went 3 for 4 with two doubles and an RBI for Moorhead.
