Nick Schaus Named Co-Hockey East Player of the Week

Nov. 9, 2009

UMass Lowell hockey senior Nick Schaus (Buffalo, NY) was named the Co-Hockey East Player of the Week after netting two goals and two assists in a three-point River Hawk weekend.

Schaus' campaign was highlighted by a one goal and two assist performance against New Hampshire on Sunday evening live on ESPNU. All three of his points came in the third period as the River Hawks overwhelmed the Wildcats with four goals en route to a 6-3 win. In the 3-3 tie at Vermont on Friday, the Buffalo native netted a power play goal that tied the game at 1-1 midway through the first period.

The senior defenseman currently leads UMass Lowell with nine points on four goals and five assists in just six games. Over the weekend he became the sixth active River Hawk to top the 50 career point plateau, now holding 51 points on 10 goals and 41 assists.

Schaus and the rest of the first-place UMass Lowell River Hawks (5-2-1, 3-1-1 HE) now look forward to some southern hospitality as they travel to Alabama-Huntsville next weekend for two games with the Chargers.
