UMass Lowell volleyball ended its 2009 road schedule in style, taking down Southern New Hampshire in three sets on Tuesday night. The River Hawks were led by Nichole Rondeau (Dracut, MA) who picked up 23 assists and 15 digs, collecting her eighth double-double of the season.
The match scores were 25-16, 25-15 and 25-23. The win propels UMass Lowell to 18-9 overall and 10-4 in the Northeast-10. The Penmen slide to 9-13 on the season and 3-10 in conference play.
Rondeau's primary target on the night was junior Sarah Coscia (Pittsfield, MA) who clocked a match-high 16 kills with a .444 hitting percentage. Tuesday marked the 10th time she has collected 15 or more kills in a match this season.
Defensively, senior Elsa LeGrand (Highlands Ranch, CO) kept up her ferocious pace with five more total blocks. LeGrand now has 389 for her career, just 25 short of the all-time UMass Lowell block record.
Junior Vicky Wong (Tewksbury, MA) also shined in the contest with 11 digs and two aces.
The River Hawks have one regular season game remaining as they host Assumption during senior day on Friday at 7 p.m.
